Becca Fair

SPEND A LONG WEEKEND WITH ISLANDS GIRL BECCA FAIR AS SHE TRAVELS TO THE MOUNTAINS IN SYLVA, NORTH CAROLINA. READ HER TOP RECOMMENDATIONS AND SEE WHAT SHE PACKED FOR A CHILL WEEKEND AWAY.

WHERE DID YOU STAY?

I stayed at the sweetest rental property, called “Wolfhaven”. It’s off the beaten path a bit, which made for the coziest long weekend. I also loved how modern the home was, yet I still felt surrounded by nature— it was the perfect combo!

WHAT TO DO WHILE VISITing?

A perfect Sylva day includes coffee and breakfast at White Moon Café, strolling down main street and shopping at City Lights, In Your Ears Records, and Noon, followed by oysters at Creekside for dinner.

WHERE TO EAT?

Creekside, Lucy in the Rye, and ILDA are my favs! Oh, and Jack the Dipper for ice cream!

FAVORITE ISLANDS LOOK YOU WORE?

It’s hard to just pick one— but, the Faithful The Brand set was so dreamy and romantic. I’d have to go with that look.

GO-TO DRINK RECIPE FOR THE TRIP?

I made a Kombucha Margarita!

Ingredients

Tequila

Kombucha (any brand and flavor you prefer)

Orange juice or Cointreau

Lime (juice and wedge)

Maple Syrup

Salt or Sugar

Ice

Instructions

Use any flavor and brand of kombucha that you prefer. Add in garnish to compliment the flavor of kombucha that you select. For strawberry, garnish with a fresh sliced strawberry.

Be sure to use fresh lime juice for this recipe. Three tablespoons are approximately the juice of 1 ½ small limes.

Rim the glass with salt or sugar. If you prefer to use salt, use coarse sea salt or kosher salt. For a sweet margarita, rim the glass with raw sugar.

If this margarita is too strong in terms of alcohol, adjust to your preference or allow the ice to melt a little before drinking to dilute. You may also add additional orange juice to the drink if it is still too strong! Cheers!
