ARA TILLETT

Travel Series with Islands Girl:

We're traveling with Islands shop owner, Ara Tillett to Charlottesville, VA for a little V-day getaway.

See her must do list for the area.

Where to stay?

We loved mixing it up a bit and staying in two different spots.

The first night we stayed downtown at the Quirk Hotel which was in walking distance to a lot of good restaurants and bars.

I loved the cute coffee shop connected to the hotel and the rooftop bar for a quick drink overlooking the city before we went out and about.

The next two nights of our stay, was spent at a beautiful cottage style Airbnb outside of the city. It was originally an old painting studio and some of the remnants of paint are still left on the walls and floor. Adding to the unique charm of the space. It was a perfect spot for us to relax and unwind.

What to do?

We mostly did a lot of walking around town and eating! Haha and then just relaxing in our Airbnb trying to disconnect a little.

We did find a wine vineyard close by and enjoyed stopping in for a tasting overlooking the mountains. There are lots of local wineries and breweries and would highly suggest visiting while you're there.

Next time I hope to find a spot a hike around and see more of the Mountain views.

Where to eat and drink?

We had heard good things about MarieBette cafe and bakery, so on the way in we scooped up pastries for our mornings. They did not disappoint!

We loved sharing a bunch of smaller plates for dinner at Oakhart social and their cocktails. Brunch downtown at Bizou, and pizzas to go from Lampo. My favorite was the funghi pizza with added arugula.

We did spontaneously come across Rapture for the best late night chicken wings, beers and a game of pool :)

Favorite Islands look to wear?

I have been living in the LNA Kasper Sherpa shirt jacket! For the trip I was able to style it a few ways- buttoned up and more relaxed with the Agolde Wyman Low Rise Jeans and sneakers or Uggs. - And also a bit more dressed up and layered for the evenings with the Alohas Pleasant Knit top, Agolde Low Slung Baggy Jeans, and a chocolate pointed toe sling back heel.

Sometimes adding the Unreal Fur Charisma Coat when needed.
